Int'l Antarctic Center, Christchurch

The weather was horrible, so the dolphins were hiding. Instead, we drove into Christchurch and went to the International Antarctic Center. This is one of three international staging and logistic centers for supply of bases in Antarctica. NZ hosts a museum that includes rides on vehicles (there's Harleigh holding on during a 30 ft. descent into a 4-ft deep pool of water), icy displays and blizzards (there's Catalina in an emergency shelter igloo), and some little blue penguins (yes, that's their real name....sounded kinda generic to us).
